Dr Julian Peace

Dr Julian Peace
He currently works at Barnsley NHSFT two and a half days a week, splitting his time between the two week wait clinic and surgical lists.
He has been a member of the Primary Care Dermatology Society since 1998, joined the Executive Committee in 2024, and became Executive Chair in July 2024.
He still lives in Sheffied despite the city having excellent transport links to all parts of the country.
Prof Steve Peters

Prof Steve Peters
Steve's work, past and present, in the field of psychiatry and education, includes: Clinical Director of Mental Health Services within the NHS at a district hospital; Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at Rampton; Senior Clinical Lecturer of Medicine and Undergraduate Dean at Sheffield University; and Visiting Professor at Derby University. He has spent 20 years as an examination panel member at the Royal College of Psychiatry and has been an expert advisor to the World Anti-Doping Agency.
He has been a consultant to over 20 Olympic and national sporting teams including Liverpool FC, British Cycling, GB Taekwondo, England Rugby and England Football. Outside of elite sport, Professor Peters works with CEOs, senior executives, teachers, students, hospital staff and patients. Steven Gerrard, Sir Chris Hoy, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Victoria Pendleton, Katarina Johnson-Thompson, Lee Westwood, Jonathan Trott and Raheem Sterling are people that have all spoken publicly about how Professor Peters has helped them during their career.
Professor Peters is also a best-selling author, and his latest work, A Path through the Jungle, was published in 2021. Steve has also authored three other books, including the best-selling self-help book of all time in the UK, The Chimp Paradox, which has sold over a million copies - as per Nielson TCM Chart 2020. Other achievements include attending Downing Street for winning the senate award twice for his excellence in teaching.
For fun, Steve competes in track and field athletics and has held multiple World Masters Champion titles and world records over the 100, 200 and 400 metres,
Jim Pickard

Jim is a current member of the Medicines Committee and acting Chair.
He has previously held academic roles at the Northern College and Senior Lecturer, Principal Lecturer and Head of School roles at Huddersfield University. Until recently, his clinical roles were primarily in the field of podiatric surgery working part-time as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon for Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust for over 20 years.
His CPD has included gaining an MSc from Salford University, and College awards, holding both Surgical and Podiatric Medicine Fellowships. He is an Independent Prescriber and holds Surgical Annotation with the HCPC. He has served on Council. In addition to his current work on the Medicines Committee he has sat on Surgical Faculty and ACG. He undertakes partner work for the HCPC.
Sue Pike

Sue has been a member of Council of the Royal College of Podiatry since June 2023 and chairs the Employment Support Committee at the Royal College. She has been a Staff Side rep with the College for over 20 years and has been involved in the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion workstreams along with working on policy development for Parkinson's Disease and other neurological conditions.
She has represented the College at the Trade Union Congress within the Midlands network. She works in both independent podiatry practice and within the NHS as a Freedom to Speak Up guardian where she works across two provider trusts and chairs the Midlands Regional guardians' network.

My name is Mark Povey and I am a Clinical Lead Podiatrist in Kent, UK, specialising in high-risk feet.
In 2020, I started a Qi project to improve confidence among podiatrists working with end of life care (EOLC) patients, especially regarding making appropriate decisions about wound debridement. This led to me designing the “DECIDE” tool and creating a training package which has been delivered to podiatrists across Kent, the East of England and Dorset.
I am looking forward to running a workshop at this year’s Conference about this important and relevant topic.

Before joining the Royal College of Podiatry, Jane was Chief Executive at the Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (ACB). She is currently on the Science Council Board of Trustees. Jane was a Director at responsible business charity, Business in the Community, leading on community impact, high street regeneration and social enterprise support. During this period, she created and delivered an Olympic legacy programme supporting social enterprise growth to create more than 5000 jobs and over £400m in economic growth.
Additionally, Jane has been a non-Executive Board Member of Impact Hub Kings Cross CIC, part of a global support network for mission-based enterprise delivering positive social and environmental outcomes aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Jayne Robbie
Jayne is currently studying for a doctorate and is researching person-centred 'missingness' and missed opportunities in accessing specialist foot care for people with diabetes. She is passionate about the unique role of podiatrists in the MDT and has been pivotal in the ACT NOW campaign to raise awareness of early referral of foot problems to specialist centres to reduce amputations. She was awarded Fellow of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow in 2022 and Fellow of the Royal College of Podiatrists in April 2023 in recognition of this work.

He trained in general medicine and rheumatology in the East Midlands and Western Australia. His clinical and research interests include common musculoskeletal foot problems such as osteoarthritis, plantar heel pain, hallus valgus and gout.
He leads epidemiological studies and clinical trials in primary care. He is co-convenor of the British Society for Rheumatology (BSR) Foot and Ankle Special Interest Group and chair of the BSR Foot Health in Inflammatory Arthritis guideline working group.

Sean Savage is a specialist in podiatric sports medicine.
He qualified from QUB and has post-graduate qualifications from Queen Margaret University Edinburgh and has a post-graduate qualification in Podiatric Sports Medicine from Queen Mary University London. He has completed a Diagnostic MSK Ultrasonography Qualification from Bournemouth AECC University.
Sean has previous experience lecturing at the Northern Ireland School of Podiatry at the University of Ulster and currently lectures nationally and internationally to the podiatric and orthopaedic professions. He has also lectured at the Brunel University on the Pg Cert, Diagnostic Ultrasound.
He is also the Sports Podiatrist to Northern Ireland Senior Soccer Team.
He is past Vice Chair for the Royal College of Podiatry (RCPod) Northern Ireland branch and gave up his position as he was recently appointed Vice Dean for the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine at the RCPod.

Jai Saxelby is the Ultrasound Project Officer for the RCPod and a representative on the Consortium for the Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE) Committee, and has recently been appointed vice-chair; he also sits on their MSK review group.
Jai works as a podiatric clinical lead for the foot and ankle pathway, Physioworks, Musculoskeletal Directorate within Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Jai has extensive clinical and research knowledge within musculoskeletal care having worked in this sphere for 34 years.
Martyn Sherman

He was the BBC Radio Sheffield's foot expert for several years and was filmed making silicones for Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies. He now runs silicone workshops in England and Scotland with delegates travelling from several countries, and a silicone Facebook page with around 5k worldwide followers.
In his spare time, Martyn is a judge for the English Karate Federation and an instructor, holding a 3rd degree black belt himself.

Heidi Siddle
Professor Heidi Siddle is Professor of Musculoskeletal Health and Head of Clinical Biomechanics and Physical Medicine in the Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine at the University of Leeds.
Professor Siddle has just completed her NIHR Fellowship which has included the development of the ‘COuld it Be RA (COBRA) tool’ to identify people at risk of rheumatoid arthritis in primary care through targeted anti-CCP testing.
Professor Siddle is the Consultant Podiatrist in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and has established a Rheumatology Podiatry Service, which includes an Ultrasound Clinic. Professor Siddle completed her CASE accredited Post-Graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in 2009 and is the first Chair of the Ultrasound in Podiatry Specialist Advisory Group at the Royal College of Podiatry.
She has instigated and led the development of Practice guidance for podiatrists when using ultrasound imaging as part of their scope of practice, which will be launched at the Podiatry 2024 Conference.

She is currently Professional Lead for Podiatry at East London Foundation Trust, Deputy Therapy Lead in Bedfordshire and Co-Chair of East of England Prescribing Group.
Emma is also Chair of the Royal College of Podiatry Apprenticeship Group and last year completed a secondment with the College supporting the Workforce and Education Programme with Apprenticeships.
Emma is an accredited coach and enjoys facilitating others with their personal growth and providing mentorship to colleagues.

Initially specialising in diabetic foot and wound management, she extended her scope of practice to include leg ulcer management and compression therapy by leading her local community specialist leg ulcer service, before her current clinical role.
Justine recently started a doctoral clinical academic fellowship to develop her area of research interest, designing a complex intervention to manage diabetic foot ulcers complicated by the effects of lympho-venous disease; and gained practical experience of project management with the University of Brighton as a research fellow on a project funded by the European Space Agencies investigating lower limb perfusion in microgravity.

Ben has 25 years’ experience working as a lawyer in the health and social care sector and is a Partner in Weightmans’ Leeds office, working with clients nationwide.
Acting for health and social care providers and commissioners, including the NHS, local authorities and private sector, Ben has been rated as one of the leading Court of Protection lawyers in the country for more than a decade.
Ben's expertise covers issues of consent and mental health and mental capacity/best interests decision making, both for adults and children, as well as wider issues around delayed or disputed discharges, deprivation of liberty, safeguarding, confidentiality and duty of candour. Ben routinely deals with out of hours and emergency issues about medical treatment, including urgent court applications.
Ben has a masters' degree in medical law and ethics, and is also a qualified mediator, with a particular interest in the use of mediation to resolve medical treatment disputes outside court.

Ben is often quoted or published in the health and social care sector press. He has a decade of experience of sitting on the clinical ethics committee of a large acute NHS trust, is a current member of the Law and Ethics Policy Unit of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine, and the Mental Health and Disability specialist committee of the Law Society, as well as a role as a Research Associate to the Essex Autonomy Project, and the legal advisor to the Ethics Committee of Alder Hey Hospital. In 2021 Ben was awarded a commendation by the Dean of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine for his contribution to the profession.

Following various stints in community pharmacy I took a job within a prison where I developed an interest in dermatology and undertook regular clinics for prisoners with skin problems. I spent over 13 years as a health service researcher where I focussed on how community pharmacists could help support patients with skin problems.
I am currently an independent pharmacy writer and a part-time lecturer at the University of Bradford where I developed the course and teach dermatology to undergradate pharmacy students.

Before moving into education in 2012, I was an Advanced Practitioner in Ultrasound undertaking general medical, obstetric, gynaecological and musculoskeletal ultrasound examinations, with a particular interest in MSK ultrasound since 2003.
I am now a Senior Lecturer and the Admissions Tutor on the MSc Medical Imaging (Ultrasound) Programme at the University of Cumbria. I lead the professional, legal and ethical issues in ultrasound and musculoskeletal ultrasound modules.
MSK ultrasound has remained my main area of interest and during my time in education, I have regularly provided lectures and hands-on training sessions on MSK study days and conferences both nationally and internationally, and I continue to be a member of the SoR MSK SIG.
My research interests include the future of ultrasound education in the UK, and I have published several articles and reports in this area. I have also recently co-written a report on the reporting practices of sonographers in the Republic of Ireland commissioned by the Republic of Ireland Health Board. I have also co-edited and co-authored a book Musculoskeletal ultrasound how, why and when, which was published by Elsevier in 2021.

Clare graduated from the University of Brighton in 2011 and later completed her MSc in Podiatry with Clinical Biomechanics 2015. She has worked for Provide CIC in Mid Essex since qualifying, where she is now one of the podiatry team leaders with a specialism in wound care.
Clare is the Student Co-ordinator for placements and believes in recruitment of students and supporting newly-qualified podiatrists within the NHS setting. She has led projects on technology in the support of newly-qualified podiatrists. Clare works within the MDFT in the acute setting and across the community. She completed her non-medical prescribing in 2021 and is passionate about the use of this to enhance patient outcomes. She is a governor for Provide and believes in being the voice for the members.
Tommy Whitelaw
National Lead Person Centred Voices, Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland
Tommy Whitelaw
For five years Tommy Whitelaw was a full-time carer for his late mother, Joan, who had Vascular Dementia. In 2011 Tommy undertook a walk around Scotland’s towns and cities to collect hundreds of life stories and letters detailing the experiences of individuals who care for a loved one living with dementia. Tommy took this collection of stories to the Scottish Parliament to raise awareness of the value of carers, providing a platform for people to share their experiences and highlight what is needed to better support carers in Scotland.
Since then, he has engaged with thousands of carers through his Tommy on Tour blog and as National Lead for the ALLIANCE’s Person Centred Voices Project. In this role he delivers frequent talks to health and social care professionals, students and carer organisations across Scotland, promoting the values and principles of ‘What Matters to You?’, ‘Intelligent Kindness’ and ‘Civility Saves Lives’ – movements that identify active listening, kindness, and person centredness as key to providing inclusive support and care to all individuals, as well as healthy work environments.
This outreach programme has now reached over 280,000 people across 2,000 talks, gathering 30,000 What Matters to You pledges, capturing people’s commitments to putting this work into practice for the benefit of individuals and families.
In 2014, 2019 and again in 2023 Tommy produced Concerts for Caring. Each concert, held at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall, saw over 1,800 individuals join together for an evening of music, celebration and respite.
In 2021, Tommy was invited by the Scottish Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Humza Yousaf, to sit on the Social Covenant Steering Group.

Richard Wilkins

Richard Wilkins
Dr Richard Wilkins is an NIHR-funded Research Fellow at the Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine, University of Leeds, and an advanced clinical practitioner at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Richard's research is focused on the identification of early disease in patients with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, and understanding the mechanism of action of foot and ankle interventions such as modified footwear using imaging and biomechanical outcomes.
Richard specialises in the musculoskeletal management of haemarthopathy in patients with bleeding disorders and the Leeds Spondyloarthropathy service using ultrasound to assess disease activity and guide pharmacological and mechanical interventions.
Antony Wilkinson

Mr Wilkinson graduated from the Northern College of Podiatry in 1990 and quickly became interested in foot and ankle surgery. After passing membership exams with the podiatry association in 1994, he secured a surgical training post in South Derbyshire.
After gaining his Fellowship in Podiatric Surgery in 1997, Antony continued his training as a speciality registrar in Podiatric Surgery before being appointed as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon in 2002. He is employed as Consultant and Clinical Head of Podiatric Surgery with Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as well as offering NHS and private treatments within the independent sector.
Antony was elected Dean of the Faculty of Podiatric Surgery in 2009, a post which he held for three years. During this time he was responsible for leading the strategic development of the profession on behalf of the College of Podiatry. He is current chair of the Clinical Governance and Medical Advisory Committee with Ramsay Park Hill Hospital, representing the hospital consultants from all specialties at national meetings. In 2019, Antony was awarded Fellowship of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine within the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, for outstanding contribution to the profession.
In 2020 Antony was involved in setting up Coriel Orthopaedic Group along with seven orthopaedic surgeons. The group is developing rapidly and has admitted one other orthopaedic director and one podiatric associate. They have purchased their own clinic, developing a multidisciplinary team from multiple medical and surgical specialities. In 2023 Antony was elected chairman of the group.

Professor Cylie Williams
Professor Cylie Williams is a clinical researcher and educator at Monash University. She also holds a small private practice clinical role.
Cylie is a leader of Australian allied health model of care and workforce research. She has supervised researchers in the Podiatrists in Australia: investigating Graduate Employment (PAIGE) study. This is the largest longitudinal data collection in podiatry, focusing on workplace location choices, employment, job satisfaction, burnout and education preferences.
This and other workforce and children’s lower limb health research have resulted in Cylie’s 160 peer reviewed publications and $14 million of research funding

Having worked his way through the NHS after graduation, he found frustration at not being able to provide the level of service to his clients that he felt was needed.
Pete established Eclipse Foot Clinic in 2011 and now employs a team of six podiatrists and three admin staff, all delivering world-class podiatry, out of two sites in Hampshire.
His role these days is as a mentor and coach to his team, while enjoying an excellent work-life balance.

Dr Lisa Wright
Lisa is a senior lecturer in podiatry in Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) and honorary podiatrist in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Scotland.
Lisa graduated from GCU in 2010 with a PgC in medical (musculoskeletal) ultrasound and in 2014 with a PhD titled: Foot involvement in rheumatoid arthritis: A prospective ultrasound study. Lisa contributes to research and teaching across both podiatry and ultrasound programmes, with a clinical/research role using ultrasound in a hybrid rheumatology and podiatry clinic at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH).
Lisa represents the Royal College of Podiatry (RCPod) on the Consortium for the Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE) Committee and is Directorate of Education for the RCPod Specialist Ultrasound Advisory group.
