Why 80 stories?
This year, the Royal College of Podiatry is sharing 80 real stories to shine a light on the vital role that podiatrists play in people’s lives
From children taking their first steps without pain, to older adults staying independent, to athletes returning to the sports they love – podiatry transforms lives every day.
Yet too many people still don’t know what podiatrists treat, or when to seek help.
The 80 Stories campaign aims to change that by celebrating the individuals, families and communities whose lives have been improved by expert foot and lower-limb care.
It also marks our 80th anniversary – eight decades of supporting podiatrists, advancing clinical excellence and helping the public stay mobile and well.
What does a podiatrist do? More than you think
Podiatrists are highly trained healthcare professionals specialising in the lower limb. They diagnose, treat and manage a wide range of conditions – far beyond what many people expect.
Podiatrists help with:
- Persistent or unexplained lower-limb pain
- Sports injuries
- Skin and nail conditions
- Diabetic foot concerns
- Mobility and balance issues
- Joint, tendon or muscle problems
- Children’s foot development.
If something affects your ability to walk comfortably, a podiatrist can help.
