The last photograph of the Incorporated Society of Chiropodists

1945

The last photograph of the Incorporated Society of Chiropodists

It is believed that this is a final photograph of members of the Incorporated Society of Chiropodists taken in 1945 before its amalgamation with other organisations to become the Society of Chiropodists. It was taken by the Larkin Brothers, High Holborn, London (London’s Commercial Photographers).

At the time, the Incorporated Society was based at 21 Cavendish Street, London. On the walls in the background there is a portrait of Dr Oxford which now hangs in the College HQ in Quartz House. There is also a portrait of W H Taylor who was President in the mid 1920s.

Key figures in the photograph include:

  • Ernest Runting (seated third on the right)
  • John Hanby (seated first on the right)
  • Catherine Fraser Norrie (seated fifth on the right)
  • Lionel Griffiths (Secretary – standing first right)
  • W Cooper (standing fourth from the right)
