Role of the President

The By-laws of the Royal College of Podiatry state that:

The Presidency of the College is an honorary position. The President provides advice, but does not take part in the day-to-day management of the organisation. He or she is normally chosen from outside the profession, being a pre-eminent member in the medical or political world.

And from the the Articles of Association we learn that:

Council may appoint any person (who need not be a Voting Member) to be the President of the College, the role description and terms of office to be determined by Council and detailed within the By-Laws. Any such appointee will only be entitled to vote at General Meetings if they are a Voting Member.
