The Chief Executive leads the College's Management Team to ensure that the organisation represents members and provides services tailored to their needs. Each team member has responsibility for overseeing their area. Collectively, the team looks after the College's day-to-day work. The work includes finance and corporate services, membership services, employment relations, external affairs, and education and professional development.

Jane Pritchard

Before joining the RCPod, Jane was Chief Executive at the Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (ACB). She is currently on the Science Council Board of Trustees. Jane was a Director at responsible business charity, Business in the Community, leading on community impact, high street regeneration and social enterprise support. During this period, she created and delivered an Olympic legacy programme supporting social enterprise growth to create more than 5000 jobs and over £400m in economic growth.

Additionally, Jane has been a non-Executive Board Member of Impact Hub Kings Cross CIC, part of a global support network for mission-based enterprise delivering positive social and environmental outcomes aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Claire Angus

Director of Membership

Claire Angus

Claire Angus joined the organisation in January 2018, as the Director of Membership. Claire is responsible for leading, developing and implementing the organisation’s membership, events and awards strategies. 

An experienced senior membership professional, Claire has worked in the Professional Membership Body sector for over 20 years. Claire was previously Assistant Director of Development at the Royal College of GPs (RCGP), where she was responsible for leading, developing and implementing the College’s membership, international and fundraising strategies. As well as increasing membership recruitment and retention, she also developed and launched a new membership experience strategy to modernise and personalise the way the organisation communicated and engaged with its members.

Before taking up that role, Claire spent 14 years at the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) supporting its 125,000 members worldwide. Her AAT roles included Assistant Director of Global Development, leading new market development with a key focus on the Middle East, and Assistant Director of Education and Training, leading qualification development and student engagement. 

Claire holds an MSc in Psychology, CIMA’s Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting and an MBA in Leadership Practice.

Frederick Moore

Fred Moore joined the Royal College of Podiatry in September 2023 as the Director of Finance and Corporate Services. Before taking up this role, Fred spent almost two years as Interim CFO for the Ghana Football Association.

Fred is responsible for the financial performance of the organisation, including statutory and internal reporting, budgeting and financial planning, treasury, financial control, information technology, human resources, contracts and value for money. Fred has a passion for not-for-profit finance; ensuring that organisational funds are robustly managed and developing the value addition.

Fred is CIMA qualified with a Masters in Finance and Investment. Fred has held prominent positions for over 20 years such as the Deputy Director of Finance for a large healthcare (PCT), Director of Finance and Corporate Services for several large and medium size charities and housing associations. Fred is the Treasurer and Committee member of Lifting Limits and co-opted as the Treasurer for Belgravia Community Housing.

Lawrence Ambrose

Lawrence Ambrose served in the Royal Navy before qualifying as a podiatrist from University College London. He practised as a podiatrist in the NHS in South East London for many years, notably at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. He moved into roles specialising in clinical governance and risk management within the NHS.

Since joining the College in 2014, the Policy and Public Affairs team operate effectively across all four UK countries. The team works apolitically with governments, oppositions, and parliamentarians as well as with arm’s length bodies of government to ensure that the UK population has the services required to prevent, detect and manage health complications. Lawrence also continues to work clinically.

Martin Furlong

Deputy General Secretary

Martin Furlong

Martin is the College's Deputy General Secretary. He has previously worked as a union official in the airline industry, telecoms and the civil service before moving into his current role covering members in the NHS and independent healthcare. Martin is an elected member of the TUC's General Council and Vice Chair of Unions 21.

Prior to becoming a trade union officer, Martin was a lay rep for many years in the finance industry and joined a union on his first day at work in 1982.

When not working at the College, Martin is a keen music fan and promotes live music events in London.

Martin O'Connor

Head of Communications and Marketing

Martin O'Connor

Martin O'Connor joined the College in 2019 as its Communications and Media Officer. He later earned promotion to the role of Head of Communications and Marketing in March 2020. Martin leads a team to produce multimedia communications for the College's digital and print channels.

Having originally trained as a broadcast journalist, Martin worked for media organisations, including the Press Association, the BBC and The Times before moving into public relations. Martin started working in communications for professional bodies and regulators in 2013, initially at the Royal College of Physicians, where he stayed for five years. During this time, Martin worked in membership communications, publishing medical textbooks and developing digital educational materials. Most recently, he was the press officer for the Bar Standards Board, the body that regulates barristers in England and Wales.

Martin is an active Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (MCIPR).
