The RCPod responds to the First Minister's Priorities for Scotland
The RCPod has responded to First Minister Humza Yousaf’s statement on the Scottish government’s priorities
The Royal College of Podiatry (RCPod), today (18 April), welcomes the focus on preventing ill health as one of the First Minister’s Priorities for Scotland.
Podiatry plays a key role in preventing ill health, early intervention and ensuring our population remains healthy, independent and physically active for longer. However, the profession faces a workforce crisis. The 2026 target for improving workforce planning will be of particular importance to our NHS members.
Sustainability of the workforce, respecting and valuing the podiatry skillset and offering attractive career choices are aims shared by both Scottish Government and the RCPod. We look forward to working with the Cabinet Secretary for NHS Recovery, Health and Care to achieve this target.
