The College welcomes the overarching ethos of co-production and principles of personalised care, which reflect the approach already taken by podiatry services in Wales, but amendment is needed for clarity

In February 2024 the Welsh Government sought views on the revised Living with arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions in Wales: a framework for the future 2024 to 2029.

This document will replace the Welsh Government’s Service Development and Commissioning Directives for Arthritis and Chronic Musculoskeletal Conditions, which was published in 2006.

This framework is one of several tools that will guide service development and delivery for MSK conditions. It:

  • includes the vision, mission and strategy for improving services for people with MSK conditions in Wales.
  • summarises, organises the high-level principles, and practices which underpin service delivery.
  • is to be used by the multi-professional team when considering how they will achieve the Quality Statement for Musculoskeletal (MSK) Health
