FAQs for podiatrists

The College has produced a set of COVID-19 specific FAQs for members.

Drills can be used as normal with the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) including water drills.

Treatment grid during COVID-19

The College has developed a Treatment grid that should be used in conjunction with its clinical Decision tree and its clinical and PPE guidance. The Treatment grid looks at the criteria for podiatry treatment in clinical or domiciliary settings in independent practice during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Decision tree

This is an aid for independent practitioners to support their decision making during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is not designed to replace individual risk assessment, which should be carried out for each patient.

This chart should be used in conjunction with our treatment and risk assessment grids. If patients are able to be seen by remote consultation during the pandemic, this should be the preferred way of seeing them. It is your clinical responsibility to balance the need to treat a patient’s podiatric problem against the risk of exposing them to the transmission of COVID-19.
