Coronavirus: College of Podiatry welcomes the Government's scheme for the self-employed
Update for self-employed members whose livelihoods are under threat from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The College of Podiatry has been working closely with the TUC to push for a fair and equitable settlement for our self-employed members who, through no fault of their own, find their livelihoods under threat.
We are pleased that the proposals are similar to those for our employed members. These are hard times and the difficulties in agreeing a scheme that is equitable to all have been immense. Our membership of the TUC has allowed us to lobby on behalf of all our members.
Steve Jamieson CEO of the College of Podiatry said ‘This news is welcome as it begins to allow members to plan for the future. We remain committed to looking after the interests of all our members and there is more work to be done.'
Some of our members will feel that their earnings will be less during this time, but this is a unique situation and the government's scheme will help to ensure that the funds available are spread as evenly as possible.
Members who do suffer a financial hardship can apply for assistance from Arch Support, our hardship fund and charity.
