The event, hosted by parliamentarians in Scotland, celebrated the life-changing work of Allied Health Professionals

MSP Carol Mochan hosted the Allied Health Professions Federation (AHPF) Scotland at a Scottish Parliamentary Reception ‘Celebrating AHPs - Helping people live their best lives’ on Wednesday 5 October 2022. As a member of the AHPF Scotland, the RCPod joined AHPs from around Scotland to highlight the life changing work carried out by the profession. With the upcoming AHPs’ Day on the 14 October, the Scottish Parliament was keen to recognise the work of the third largest workforce in the NHS.

Louise Slorance, RCPod Policy and Public Affairs Officer for Scotland said “Iit was wonderful to meet so many AHPs at the reception and to have the opportunity to highlight the important work of podiatrists within Scotland. As we enter the workforce pressures of winter, the NHS, in particular, will benefit from the multi-disciplinary approach to patient care that podiatrists are a key part of.”

Ms Mochan MSP, herself a dietician for 17 years, will hold a debate on another day in the parliamentary chamber to celebrate the work of AHPs, subject to parliamentary time.
