About the award

This award has been established in honour of the late President of the Royal College of Podiatry, The Rt Hon Lord Morris of Manchester AO QSO, who died in 2012. The award reflects Lord Morris’s strong social conscience and the difference he made to the lives of ordinary, disadvantaged people.

Eligibility

Royal College of Podiatry Members, Fellows, or podiatry service teams who have made an exceptional, altruistic, personal or team contribution to the podiatric care of disadvantaged individuals or communities in the United Kingdom or abroad

Awarded for 
  • Exceptional altruistic, personal or team contribution to the podiatric care of disadvantaged individuals or communities within the United Kingdom or abroad 
  • Service to those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, or in support of military veterans, reflecting the legislative and policy achievements of Lord Morris.

How to make a nomination

Nomination statement (max 500 words)

The nominator should provide a clear statement addressing:

  • The nature of the work: Describe how the nominee has contributed to the care of disadvantaged individuals or communities, in the UK or internationally
  • Who has benefitted: eg, people with disabilities, marginalised communities, military veterans, or those experiencing poverty or exclusion
  • Altruism and impact: What personal or team commitment has been demonstrated? What difference has the work made?
  • Alignment with Lord Morris’s values: How does the nominee reflect compassion, justice, and advocacy in their work?
  • Promoting health equity: Specific actions taken to address or reduce health inequalities
Supporting evidence (required attachments)
  1. One testimonial from a service user, community representative, or peer (max 500 words)
    • Describing the real-world impact of the nominee’s work
  2. Optional evidence (max 2 items):
    • eg, Case studies, service evaluation, media articles, project summaries, community letters of support
