About the award

Educator of the Year Award recognises a clinical or academic podiatry educator who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, skill, and innovation in teaching and training.

Eligibility

Member of the Royal College of Podiatry who is an academic or clinical educator in connection with an RCPod accredited podiatry programme.

Awarded for
  • Demonstrates the ability to engage and motivate students, fostering a stimulating learning environment
  • Serves as a role model for students and colleagues, embodying the values and standards of the podiatry profession
  • Makes a significant, positive impact on the podiatry program, the educational institution, and the broader community

How to make a nomination

Nomination statement (max 500 words)

The nominator should provide a clear statement addressing:

  • Engagement and motivation of students: examples of how the educator inspires and supports students through teaching style, curriculum design, or mentorship
  • Role modelling: how the educator embodies professional values and standards, and supports the development of others
  • Impact: specific contributions that have improved the podiatry programme, enhanced institutional outcomes, or benefited the wider professional or public community

Include any innovation in delivery, use of technology, inclusivity, or feedback from learners.

Supporting evidence (required attachments)
  1. One testimonial from a student or apprentice (max 500 words)
    • Describing the educator’s influence, approachability, and educational impact
  2. One testimonial from manager or colleague (max 500 words)
    • Speaking to the educator’s professionalism, leadership, and collaborative work
  3. Optional evidence (max 2 items):
    • eg, Teaching evaluations, sample learning resources, awards/recognitions, reflective statements, community projects
