Inspire Movement, Choose Podiatry campaign hits the road with national and regional careers events
The RCPod is taking its Inspire Movement, Choose Podiatry careers campaign on tour from August. Can you help us promote careers in podiatry?
As part of its Inspire Movement, Choose Podiatry careers campaign, the Royal College of Podiatry (RCPod) will be attending a series of national and regional careers events from August.
The RCPod has used the latest set of university admissions data to target its support in key geographical areas. It's also championing the new and recently set up podiatry courses or apprenticeship degrees in Coventry, Northampton and Sunderland.
As part of the tour, the RCPod will be at two of the biggest national careers events, taking place at the NEC Birmingham and the London Olympia. An audience of 50,000 people is expected at these two events alone.
The tour builds on the success of last year's events, where the RCPod targeted 15-18-year-olds with an interest in science, sports and healthcare and careers changers.
Like last year, podiatry school staff and students, as well as local RCPod members, will lend their support.
Chris Jefferson, the RCPod's Careers Outreach Coordinator, said:
"What really makes a difference at these events is that people get a chance to interact with podiatry - often for the first time. They get to talk to a real podiatrist and probe them about their working life, their passion for the profession and learn about the fantastic opportunities and career pathways."Last year we had nearly 100 podiatrists support the outreach events. Professors, surgeons, apprentices, NHS staff and independent practice owners. To a person, every ambassador was fantastic at representing the profession and answering the public's questions. This year, we're asking for the same. We need a similar cohort of ambassadors to support these events."
