The Royal College met with the Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care on 23 December
Following an urgent request to meet by Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Humza Yousaf, the Royal College of Podiatry (RCPod) met with Mr Yousaf, and other NHS trade unions, on Friday 23 December 2022.

Prior to this meeting the NHS Unions had written to Mr Yousaf to provide him with an update on the pay offer consultations with the union members. At the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary informed the Unions that it was his intention to implement the pay offer after speaking to the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon.

Following the meeting, Mr Yousaf issued the pay circular and the Distant Island Allowance.

The College will be writing to update the Scottish Government on our members' decision once our consultation closes on Friday 30 December 2022. The RCPod has written to the Scottish Government to express our disappointment that they have implemented a pay award before we have finished consulting with members. Details of the consultation with NHS Scotland members were sent by email on 5 December 2022 and members are encouraged to respond to the consultation if they have not already done so.
