2023 England representatives election

Are you in private/independent practice and believe strongly in supporting your fellow members to survive and thrive in their business?

Are you interested in being part of a dedicated advisory group at the Royal College of Podiatry which would feed into the development of support and services for those working in private/independent practice?

If so, then being part of the Independent Practice Group (IPG) could be for you!

This is a call for nominations from private/independent practitioners in England to fill seats on the IPG. There are four seats available for England representatives (the Devolved Nation rep elections took place in 2022) from July 2023 for a term of three years.

The overall purpose of the IPG is to provide insight and feedback to help set the direction for developing support and benefits for members working in private/independent practice. The Group meets three times a year. Two meetings a year will be held remotely (via video conference) and one at our offices in London and we will cover travel costs as per our expenses policy.

Who can apply/nominate themselves?

  • You work in the country you wish to represent
  • You are a member of the College in good standing
  • You spend at least 50% of your time in independent/private practice
  • You can commit to attending the three meetings a year (they usually take place on a Saturday from 10am to 1pm) and supporting work between meetings
  • You are well-networked with other members working in independent/private practice to bring relevant insight and knowledge to the Group about what members want/need.

What do I need to do if I wish to stand?

The process is to self-nominate using our nomination form. Please contact Maureen Jonas at maureen.jonas@rcpod.org.uk to request a copy of the form and the terms of reference for the Group. The closing date for nominations will be 10 March 2023.

How will the election run?

If there are only four nominations for the four seats, then the nominated persons will be deemed elected.

If there are more than four nominations for the seats, then an election process will be held, which will open on 20 March 2023 and close on 21 April 2023.

Voting will be restricted to members in private/independent practice in England.
