Memorandum of Understanding upholds pay parity with England and the NHS Pay Review Body’s recommendations

In July 2004 the UK government published the NHS Pay Review Body’s report for 2024/25 which recommended a 5.5% pay uplift for all staff from April 2024.

In meetings with the Health Minister, Mike Nesbitt, since the middle of November, Health Unions in Northern Ireland have made it clear that we expect the recommendations to be met in full for Northern Ireland members.

Our Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Health NI upholds pay parity with England. Due to financial restraints, however, pay will initially only be back dated to June 2024. There is a commitment in the MOU that the remaining two months will be honoured either by the end of the 2024/25 financial year or in the early stages of 2025/26.

Please see the full details of the offer in a pay circular issued by the Department of Health NI.

The RCPod will now follow its agreed process of consultation with members in Northern Ireland before responding.
