Call for nominations to the Independent Practice Group
2025 Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland representatives election. Closing date for nominations is 28 February 2025
Are you interested in being part of a dedicated advisory group at the Royal College of Podiatry which would feed into the development of support and services working in private/independent practice?
If so, then being part of the Independent Practice Group (IPG) could be for you
This is a call for nominations from private/independent practitioners in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to fill seats on the IPG. There is one seat for each of the devolved nations from July 2025 for a term of three years. Seats held by those practising in England were elected in 2023.
The overall purpose of the IPG is to provide insight and feedback to help set the direction for developing support and benefits for members working in private/independent practice in line with the College’s five-year strategy. The Group meets three times a year. Two meetings a year will be held remotely (via video conference) and one at our offices in London, with travel costs reimbursed as per our expenses policy.
Who can apply/nominate themselves?
- You work in the country you wish to represent
- You are a member of the College in good standing
- You spend at least 50% of your time in independent/private practice
- You can commit to attend the three meetings a year (usually taking place on a Saturday from 10am to 1pm) and supporting work between meetings
- You are well networked with other members working in independent/private practice in order to bring relevant insight and knowledge to the IPG about what members want/need.
What do I need to do if I wish to stand?
The process is to self-nominate using our nomination form. Please contact Maureen Jonas at maureen.jonas@rcpod.org.uk to request a copy of the form and the terms of reference for the IPG.
The closing date for nominations will be 28 February 2025.
How will the election run?
If there is only one nomination for any of the seats, then the nominated persons will be deemed elected. If there is more than one nomination for any of the seats, then an election process will be held, which will open on 31 March 2025 and close on 30 April 2025.
Voting will be restricted to members in private/independent practice in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
