Following the restoration of the Stormont administration, health unions in Northern Ireland have been in discussions to secure a pay offer for 2023/2024.

This offer is for the period 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024. The offer for our members to consider is in two parts:

  • A consolidated uplift in pay of 5%, effective from 1 April 2023

  • A further one-off non-consolidated award of £1,505 to all AfC staff in full and final settlement of outstanding pay claims for 2022/2023 and 2023/2024. This non-consolidated award will not count for pensionable pay. The award will be made on a pro-rata basis for those working less than full-time hours, and for those who have joined or left HSC employment during the course of the period 1 April 2023 – 31 March 2024. For leavers and joiners, pro-rata in terms of eligible length of service will reference each month in employment, or part thereof. Hours worked on Bank contracts should also be included, up to a maximum payment per individual of £1,505.

Full details of the offer can be viewed here.

The Royal College of Podiatry (RCPod) is in the process of consulting with NHS members in Northern Ireland. Following discussions with your trade union representatives, RCPod is recommending acceptance of the offer. It believes that this is the best achievable offer and allows the College to move on to talks for the 2024/2025 pay period.

It is important that as many members as possible provide their views so that the RCPod can  adequately reflect these discussions with your employers. The consultative ballot closes on Friday 22 March at 12pm.

The RCPod will be reporting back to members and to the Government in Northern Ireland on the outcome of the consultation.
