New staff appointments at the Royal College of Podiatry

The Royal College of Podiatry (RCPod) has welcomed new staff members in the Clinical Education, Policy and Public Affairs and Professional Support teams

Head of Education and Professional Development

Dr Benjamin Bullen joins the organisation in the role of Head of Education and Professional Development. An Honorary Lecturer at Cardiff University and Visiting Lecturer at the Welsh Wound Innovation Centre (WWIC), he recently completed a Professional Doctorate in Person-centred Practice and a Doctoral Certificate in Researcher Enhancement and Development, at Queen Margaret University. He brings a wealth of experience to the role from both the education and clinical practice sectors.

Policy Officer and Public Affairs Officer (Northern Ireland)

Dr Anne Monaghan joins RCPod from the Department of Health in Northern Ireland where she worked on AHP policy. Anne brings to her role significant knowledge of how government works in Northern Ireland. While in the Department she worked on the AHP workforce reviews process, drafted speeches for Minister Swann, the Permanent Secretary, the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief AHP Officer and drafted responses to Assembly Questions and developed internal business cases. She has 25 years’ experience in policy development, stakeholder engagement and communication.

New faces in the Professional Support team

The Professional Support team has welcomed two new part-time Professional Support Officers to provide maternity cover within the department.

  • Robin Hull has over 40 years’ experience within podiatry and extensive NHS leadership experience culminating in his retirement from NHS practice in 2022. He has previously worked with RCPod on various advisory groups and sub committees prior to joining the Professional Support team.

  • Marie Laurent has worked within the NHS as a general and diabetes specialist podiatrist for over 15 years and became a non-medical prescriber in 2007. She currently splits her time between working in the independent sector and her role within the College.
