Performance review of the Health and Care Professions Council 2021/22
Improvements seen in registration processes and in equality, diversity and inclusion, but further work needed on fitness to practise
The Professional Standards Authority (PSA) has released this year's annual performance review of the Heath and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The Royal College is pleased to see the PSA has seen improvements in the HCPC’s handling of its registration processes and in its equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) requirements, but we are disappointed that the HCPC is still falling below standards for Fitness to Practise cases.
The Royal College has been meeting with the HCPC and the PSA regularly to feedback our concerns with their processes and we welcome these improvements. But until the HCPC fully meets the PSA standards we will continue to report our concerns. We will work with the HCPC and PSA to ensure members going through these processes are dealt with in a fair and understanding manner.
