The news follows weeks of negotiations with trade unions. The RCPod will now consider its response before consulting with members

The Royal College of Podiatry (RCPod) has received a pay offer of 5% for its NHS members in England for the coming year 2023/24. The offer also includes an additional one-off payment between £1,655 (bottom of Band 2) to £3,789 (top of Band 9) to top-up the past year’s award.

The RCPod will now follow its standard internal processes on receiving a formal pay offer before responding. This process will include consulting with NHS members in England about the deal.

Acting General Secretary of the Royal College of Podiatry, Martin Furlong, said:

“It’s a shame that it took hard working health workers to go out on strike to get a decent pay deal. We note the offer the government has put forward following our negotiations with them as part of the 14 trade unions involved in the talks. We will now follow our standard internal processes before responding. This includes consulting with our members in England about the offer.”

The RCPod will inform its NHS members in England when it has considered the offer.

Note: This article was amended on 17 March 2023 to remove a reference to members receiving ‘an additional one-off payment of 6%’. The government has offered two non-consolidated one-off payments: a 2% award for all staff, and a COVID recovery bonus that is equivalent to 4% of the total pay bill. This means that all our members working in the NHS in England get a 2% award as well as an additional COVID recovery payment. The total non-consolidated payment award is between 3.5% (Band 9_2) and 8.2% (Band 1).
